Customers using Make My Cake
Finding a baker:
Simply enter your postcode or allow the platform to use your location services to find bakers in your area. You can also use other search filters such as price range, distance, dietary requirements etc to improve your search.
Yes, you can search for bakers who specialise in certain cake types such as birthday cakes, wedding, baby shower etc as well as cake types such as brownies and cupcakes.
Each baker’s profile will have contact information, including phone number, email, or a link to their website.
In future, you will be able to post your cake requirements and bakers in your area will bid for your job – coming soon!
Currently, orders are placed directly with the baker. In the future, the platform will offer order functionality so you can order a cake directly through Make My Cake so everything is kept in one location.
All of bakers on Make My Cake must provide proof of their Level 2 Food and Hygiene certification along with their Public Liability Insurance. We feel these steps help to sift out bakers who aren’t serious about their craft and separates us from other bake directories.
Also, each baker has a profile which will begin to gain reviews from past customers. You can also check their gallery of cakes.
At Make My Cake we are passionate about connecting customers with bakers in their local areas. To be able to do this properly we ask that all bakers wanting to join the platform have the following:
- Level 2 Food and Hygiene Certification
- Public Liability Insurance to ensure customers are covered for any disputes.
As the site develops we may also require more information.
At the moment we are focused on building Make My Cake in the United Kingdom only. However, our vision is to take the Make My Cake platform to countries across the world in time – watch this space!
Payment:
As a customer, you do not currently have to pay to use the Make My Cake platform. However, you will need to register as a user (currently free).
Payment is handled directly between you and the baker. Currently, the platform does not currently process payments.
In future you will be able to pay for cakes through the Make My Cake platform as well as send cake requests for local bakers to bid for.
Bakers using Make My Cake
Joining Make My Cake:
We have tried to make the process as pain free as possible.
Firstly, you will need to create a general user account like everyone using the site – ideally this will be the main contact or baker.
You will then be able to use the ‘Add Your Bakery’ button to subscribe to the Make My Cake platform. Once subscribed you can create your bakery listing where you will need to provide information about your business, services offered, a gallery of previous cake creations and contact details for customers to get in touch with you.
There are currently two ways to join Make My Cake – Basic (FREE!) or Premium.
Premium offers everything on the Basic plan plus your bakery will be featured on the homepage and search results which will help you get seen once the platform grows. Premium members can also add more gallery images to their profile to show off more of their cake creations!
At the moment we cannot offer rolling subscriptions, but we are hoping to soon!
In the meantime, you will have to renew your Premium listing once a month to make sure your profile is visible to the public.
At the moment we are focused on building the Make My Cake platform in the United Kingdom only.

Orders:
There are several ways you and customers can communicate with bakers through the Make My Cake platform.
Customers can contact you through standard contact methods on your bakery listing page such as email, phone and website links.
Our plans also include live messaging so you can talk to customers through the platform to give immediate responses to any queries and requests. We hope this will be useful to keep your communication with current customers and potential leads in one location.

As great as bespoke cakes are, we also understand that the ability to purchase a more standard cake is more appealing to some customers and bakers.
Both Basic (FREE!) and Premium bakers now have the ability to build their own online shop where you can either:
- List a price guide for bespoke cakes
- List and sell cakes through your own online store!
Make My Cake will only take a small transaction fee to cover costs, but it means you are able to set up an online cake shop quick and easy, making you much more accessible to customers and taking away the headaches of sorting payment systems, paying for a website etc.

My Bakery profile:
You will be able to update your profile information, photos, and service offerings through your baker dashboard.
You can also access your live chat conversations through you dashboard.
As the platform grows, we will add more functionality to your dashboard to help you run your bakery business – more on this over time.
At the moment you are limited to one bakery listing.
If you would like to add multiple bakeries please get in touch via support@makemy-cake.com to share your views and we will consider this for future plans.
You will be able to respond to both positive and negative reviews through your dashboard.
Disputes and Resolution
We encourage you to communicate directly with the baker to resolve any issues. The platform will mediate disputes if necessary.
You can report a baker through the platform’s support channels. We will investigate the issue and take appropriate action.
Support
We have tried to make the Make My Cake platform as intuitive as possible for both customers and bakers alike. However, if you are having issues we offer a comprehensive FAQ section and support articles.
You can also contact our support team through email or chat.
Unfortunately we can not offer refunds for Premium plans.
If you do not wish to renew, your listing and profile will still be publicly accessible for the rest of the current month before you manually renew.

Future Roadmap
Phase One of the Make My Cake platform is building a directory, a community of bakers, from across the UK and make this the go-to website for finding a local baker.
Phase Two will be more of a marketplace where bakers can set up an online shop, add products to their pages for customers to buy quickly and easily through the Make My Cake platform – plus a whole lot more!
